Another Hat & Scarf Set

Just finished this hat & scarf.  It’s turquoise, green, and has flecks of gold in it.  The yarn was by Dark Horse Yarns, and it’s called Allure.  I knit it on size 13 needles so it went fast.  I didn’t have a pattern but it worked up pretty easy altogether.

My Babies

Awesome Alpaca Mitts

Just finished up these great mitts.  I bought this great, super soft alpaca yarn at Ewe Count just after Christmas.  It’s Alpaca With a Twist’s “Baby Twist” in a color called Brindle.  It’s so scrumptious!  I used a free Ravelry pattern called “I’m a Little Bit Cold; I’m a Little Bit Rock & Roll” by Lindy Sevier.

I also got a couple skeins of Alpaca With a Twist’s “Highlander” in Birch.  Guess I was having an alpaca day at the yarn store!

Snowbird Hat

I just finished up this great little hat.  It’s knit from Malabrigo Worsted Merino, and the color is called “Snowbird.”  This yarn is SO wonderful.  I love this hat!

I got this in the mail from China the other day:

It’s 1400 yards of fingering-weight yarn, 94% Australian wool & 6% Cashmere.  The color is called Coffee.  I have no idea what I’m going to do with it, but I accidentally won it on eBay for cheap.

Prudence

I just finished this great sweater vest.  It’s called “Prudence Easy,” and it was another one of the free patterns on the Berroco website.  It was SO easy.  It’s soft and cuddly and warm.  I used the Plymouth Yarn Encore Worsted that I bought this summer at Wooly Mammoth in Kearney, Nebraska.

So since I finished that, I must start something new.

This is the beginning of a new sweater, a “preview of coming attractions” so to speak.  It’s Red Heart Super Saver yarn, but it’s not really that orange, the camera just wouldn’t cooperate.

Sam the Scout

The kids built a rubber-band rocket for Boy Scouts.

Sam’s in Boy Scouts, but wherever he goes, Halle has to go too.

They also got to go out to the Air National Guard and even got inside a real helicopter!

Happy Halloween!

What is Anakin Skywalker doing on my couch?!

My Baby Brother’s Having a Baby!

I found out a while back that Erm’s little brother (and mine too) is expecting.  Or, that is, his wife Becky is.  So of course we had to make some presents for the new baby right?

Fleece Baby Blanket

I made a quick little fleece baby blanket, and some flannel receiving blankets.  Baby fabrics are so cute.  I kept everything kind of unisex, since we don’t know if it’ll be a boy or girl yet, but I have a feeling it’s going to be a baby boy.

I also knitted this great little sweater.  The pattern is called “Rainbow Colors Baby Sweater” by JoAnne Turcotte.  The ladies down at Ewe Count, my LYS, helped me pick out the pattern and the yarn for it.  They were so helpful, since I had no idea what to make.  I walked in saying “I want to knit something for a baby” and they helped me pick a pattern and the right yarn.  I used Plymouth Yarn Dreambaby DK Solids for all the colors except the orange, which was Sirdar Snuggly DK.  Baby yarn is always super soft.  It was a pretty quick knit but there was a lot of seaming and weaving ends once everything was knitted.  In hindsight, I would’ve knitted differently from the pattern and used DPN’s to knit the sleeves and the lower body in the round instead of knitting everything flat.  Oh well, hindsight’s always 20/20.

I Made These

10-18-09 Sam and Halle

Erm and I have always had our running joke, “Look what we made, from scratch!”  We did something right.

Baby, It’s Cold Outside!

Freezing rain and snow today?  In the middle of October?
